S. Korea's industrial output rises 0.5% m/m in July, but capital investment falls for five straight months

Korea's overall industrial production went up in in July while capital investment fell for the fifth consecutive month.<br /> Statistics Korea says industrial output rose zero-point-five percent on-month in July, making a rebound from June's fall of zero-point-seven percent thanks to increased production in mining and manufacturing.<br /> But capital investment dropped zero-point-six percent on-month in July, marking the fifth straight month of decline -- the longest run of declines in about two decades. <br />Statistics Korea attributed the fall to shrinking investment in semiconductors. <br />Production in services was similar to the previous month with growth in science and technology being offset by falls in finance and insurance. <br />
